Professional artist/photographer art teacher...worked in the NYC area 20 years...have lived in Maine the last 19 years...teach, still a proshooter, and play jazz in trios and other smallish groupings here in Maine all year 'round...looking to relocate for the next 20 years to my next "incarnation" to....who knows...but it will involve playing jazz....absolutely!
Cornet....my favorite horn right now...a pristine 1917 Frank Holten Chicago New Proportions Couterier Model cornet with a Lou Diorio heavy shank cornet shank with his D6L FL cup....Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Euphonium, Valve 'bone...oh and Voice
Bruce, thanks so much! I don't happen along this site a lot, but glad to receive your nice post! As for the dancing, well, it took and still takes a lot of retraining from sitting down in orchestras most of my training, but so freeing and so much fun when it comes together! And sometimes there is first aid close by, at least oxygen tanks in high altitudes (no, I'm not kidding!)
I use an Amati short valve bone, it's a great doubler, keyed in Bb and light enough to play with one hand if switching fast! The pocket is a no name... my repair man Josh picked it up in China for me and it plays amazingly well! You should definitley hit Josh up for repair work, he has done wonders and I don't trust anyone else now.
I'd love to chat about photos, I have several photographers I've used, but only one I have stuck to all these years. When he's not around and something needs to be done, you never know! Or if you have a fun project for both of our books...
As for mouthpieces, I'm a Loud girl. I use their pieces on trumpet, trombone and flugel. But thanks for the suggestion. :) And happy new year, nice to meet you!
Thanks for the wonderful comments and I am always glad to share the passions and enthusiasm with fellow musicians. Stay in touch and keep on playing! Maybe we'll meet up in Florida. Regards, Jan P.S. Love the photos, too. :)
